What is holistic health counseling and how is it different then a diet or therapy?
As your Health Counselor, I will listen carefully and help you to navigate the world of contradictory nutrition advice to determine what changes are necessary for you. Together we will explore what health goals you want to accomplish and come up with a personalized program that will help you achieve these goals. Together, we will explore concerns specific to you and your body and discover the tools you need for a lifetime of balance. I will provide you with healthy food habits, as well as, other lifestyle tools to help you reduce stress, improve your mood, and increase your overall self-confidence.
What is your background and how did you become a health counselor?
I encourage you to read My Story to learn more about why I became a health counselor. I received my training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition®. Based in New York City, Integrative Nutrition® is the largest nutrition school in the world. The school taught me over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and cutting-edge coaching methods. I learned from top experts in the field of health and wellness including Dr. Andrew Weil, Geneen Roth, Dr. David Katz, Dr. John Douillard, Dr. Mark Hyman, and David Wolfe among many others. My personal experience along with my education has equipped me with extensive knowledge in holistic nutrition, health coaching, and the importance of preventive care. Drawing on my education and experience, I work with clients to help them make the dietary and lifestyle changes that produce real and lasting results.
Who will benefit best from one of your health counseling programs?
If you are frustrated by dieting, constantly worried about what the scale says, want to feel better about yourself, improve your overall mood and self-confidence then I encourage you to explore which of My Services is right for you. If you want to be rid of the “diet mentality” and never worry about what the scale says again then you have come to the right place. If you want to learn how to enjoy your food and break free of emotional eating then we are a perfect match.
Who is not likely to benefit from one of your health counseling programs?
Anyone who is interested in a “diet plan” or a quick fix to their health problems should not sign up for one of my programs. If you are not ready to make a commitment to changing your eating habits and overall lifestyle then we will not be a good match.
How can I guarantee to get the most of my program and reach my goals?
In order to reach your health goals you must first become aware that you’d like to make a change. Once awareness has been created you need to be open and ready to receive support and accountability tools to achieve your goals. In order to be truly successful in my program you need to follow through with the suggestions I give you and use me as your accountability tool. I will support you all along the way, but the work is up to you.
Why should I work with you over another nutrition program?
I know what it is like to struggle with weight and want to be a different size.
I was that chubby fat girl who always got picked on in elementary school. I hated gym and moving my body because of my large size. I have felt the pain, frustration, depression, and loneliness that goes along with being fat. I am living proof of why diets don’t work. Most of us go on a diet to loose weight, restrict ourselves from eating, binge or over eat, and eventually gain the weight back. My approach is not to dwell on calories or restrict your food selection. I believe in mindful living and eating. When we are practicing mindfulness we are fully present. We can eat when we are hungry, stop when we are full, and savor every bite of our food. This is one of the most important tools we can do to Cultivate Nourishment for our body, mind, and spirit.
